Ingredients
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed to 110 F
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
Instructions
- Pour the warmed milk (it should feel warm to the touch like bathwater, not hot) into a small bowl. Sprinkle in the yeast and the 1 tablespoon of sugar and stir once. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the surface looks foamy and bubbly, which confirms the yeast is alive; if nothing happens, the yeast is dead and you need to start over with fresh yeast.
