A 3-quart stainless steel saute pan with straight sides and a fitted lid for browning and simmering in one vessel.

This saute pan combines a wide, flat cooking surface with taller straight sides than a typical skillet, giving enough volume to brown chicken thighs and then simmer them in sauce without switching pans. A tri-ply aluminum core runs through the base and up the sidewalls for even heat during both the searing and simmering stages of a dish. The fitted stainless steel lid traps steam for finishing rice pilafs or braised vegetables, and its knob stays cool enough to lift with bare fingers in most cases. A helper handle opposite the main riveted handle makes it easier to move the pan safely once it is full of liquid. At 3 quarts it comfortably handles a one-pan chicken dinner or a batch of risotto for four.
